Homer Simpson + Shakespeare = MacHomer

For all the true Simpson's fans out there. It' MacHomer now playing in Toronto.

From the MacHomer homepage:

"This one-man vocal spectacular features impressions of over 50 voices from TV`s The Simpsons in a hilarious performance of Shakespeare`s Macbeth! With a script which remains 85% Shakespeare, MacHomer will leave you "exhausted with laughter" (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette).

Rick Miller has performed MacHomer to capacity crowds across the U.S. and Canada. The show has toured the world to rave reviews and awards in Scotland, England, Australia, and New Zealand.

Spot-on impressions of characters from the hit series populate this imaginatively staged version of the tragedy, a multi-media update truly “full of sound and fury”. The result is that rare jewel: an educational and entertaining show, which has amazed audiences of all ages, backgrounds and languages."

I urge you to check out the site. The voice clips are really dead on and its a really well designed site.

Harvest Moon

Tonight's moon(October 6th 2006) is a full moon which probably explains all the bitchy customers and employees today.
What special about tonight’s moon?
It's a Harvest Moon, and if you’re like me you have probably heard this term for years and probably still don't have a clue what it means. (Or maybe you dont care but I'm in charge around here so I'm gonna tell you)
Apparently, after a bit of googling, a Harvest Moon occurs every fall. Astronomers have named every full moon so they can tell them apart. The special feature about this moon is the time that it rises. Normally the moon rises about fifty minutes later each night than the night before. The Harvest Moon rises only about fifteen minutes later each night allowing farmers extra time to bring in their crops.
Not that’s is very important now a days.
Fascinating.

So thats your useless fact for the day, do say I didn't try to learn you anything.

If you would like more info on local astrological events here is a website about Ottawa events.
Ottawa Valley Astronomy and Observers Group

For me it just another reminder of fall. I hate fall, I can't remember ever liking it. It's the season of death and it's just a sad reminder that summers gone and the snow is just around the corner. The one consolation for me is the leaves. I love the colour red, and there are some beautiful trees around Ottawa this time of the year. That pic over on the left is in our backyard, I don't know what type of tree it is, but the leaves turn bright red every year. The pic doesn't quite do it justice; I'll try again with brighter light later this weekend.

What were you thinking?

Lisa strikes agian. All I can say is what were you thinking? Oh and maybe you shouldn't make video's after you have had a few drinks....

Flight Attendant

So my friend Lisa sent this joke to me today. It made me laugh out loud and also reminded me of this video.

Enjoy

My flight was being served by an obviously gay flight attendant, who seemed to put everyone in a good mood as he served us food and drinks.

As the plane prepared to descend, he came swishing down the aisle and told us that "Captain Marvey has asked me to announce that he'll be landing the big scary plane shortly, so lovely people, if you could just put your trays up, that would be super."

On his trip back up the aisle, he noticed this well-dressed and rather Arabic looking woman hadn't moved a muscle. "Perhaps you didn't hear me over those big brute engines, but I asked you to raise your trazy-poo, so the main man can pitty-pat us on the ground."

She calmly turned her head and said, "In my country, I am called a Princess and I take orders from no one." To which the flight attendant replied, without missing a beat..."Well, sweet-cheeks, in my country, I'm called a Queen, so I out rank you. Tray-up, Bitch."

Must See T.V.

Wednesday night television is shaping up to be one of the best nights. Tonight was third episode of Jericho. It's a really well done drama on CBS. If you haven't seen it yet it revolves around a town following a nuclear attack on the US. So far its been a riveting drama. It stars Skeet Ulrich and I highly recommend it.

Tonight is also the return of Lost another fantastic drama from ABC. It's 9:05 and Lost has been on for a total of about 5 minutes and I can't believe what I have seen. I will not give it away for those who may have tapped it, but holy crap. Not only did things go in a direction that I didn't even imagine, but they featured my favorite author's (Stephen King) books in a couple of scenes. I couldn't make out what book they were reading so I can't tell if it has any bearing on the story line or not. That's it for now back to the show......

Let's Do The Time Warp

The Michael Jackson video has got me remembering old music that I loved. Lets start with the early 90's and work our way back.

I have to start with Mr Vain by Culture Beat. This was the first song I heard in my first Gay bar. I fell in love instantly. Useless fact, the rapper in this song was killed in a car accident shortly after the song hit.

Then there was Captain Hollywood Project with More and More. This was another huge song for us in the clubs. After I meet Mark I found out it was one of his favourite songs, he even saw them play in Montreal.

I can't find the dance version that was so popular, but here is the radio version.

This is UB40 with Can't Help Falling In Love. Another slow version, but it brings back lot's of memories. I think this was on the soundtrack of Sliver staring Sharon Stone and William (Billy) Baldwin.

Here's another song that Mark introduced me too. It's the Utah Saints "Something Good".

Then there is the Pet Shop Boys. Go West.

Alright the last one for now I could do this all night.
The Stereo Mc's "Get Connected"

How 'bout some music from the late 80's...

Michael Jackson - Thriller

I don't know how to explain this video, other than it's the Bollywood version of Thriller by Michael Jackson.

Here's a short clip of the orginal for comparison.

If you have time to wait for the full download here's the orginal 14 minute version.

Chronic Of Narnia and Natalie Portman Raps

Here is a clip of Chronic Of Narnia from SNL, it was the video that caused NBC to threaten to sue YouTube for posting it.

This is another classic clip from SNL of Natalie Portman rapping.

If you haven't seen enough of us white people rapping here's the boy who started it all..... K-Fed has got nothing on him.

New Music and Funny Videos

Last Christmas Zellers did a commercial that had one of the most addictive songs in it. I haven't been able to locate a clip of it to post, but it drove me nuts trying to find out who it was. After a good two hour search on the net I was able to figure out that it was "Nice Day" by No Affiliation. Here is the link to there website if you would like to hear it. Well in the beginning of the summer Zellers did it to me again. Here is the commercial, some of you will probably remember it.

I didn't go on a search for the name of the song this time, but a few weeks ago it started getting played on 105.3 KissFm. It's a great advertising gimmick, you get the jingle stuck in your head from all the commercial repeats and then when you here the song on the radio, you can't quite figure out why you like it so much. The song is called "Nowhere with Me" by Joel Plaskett. I couldn't find a video for it but here is a live performance. The quality is a bit low, but you get the idea.

Here is the link to Joel's website.

The last video is just something funny from the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. It's a fake photo booth. It starts a bit slow but I thought it was hilarious. It also goes to show you the increasing power of YouTube. It was only a few months ago that NBC was threatening legal action against the site for publishing clips of Saturday Night Live. Now there providing the clips themselves.
