Rosie, Katie, Mary, & Janelle A TV Addicts Dream

For those of you who know me, this will not come as a surprise. I read somewhere, years ago, you can tell how much TV someone watches by the size of there television (50inchs). I am totally addicted to television. Is there a twelve step program for people like me?
Today is a TV addicts dream.
There were a few big changes today on television.

Let’s start with The View.

Today marked the return of Rosie O’Donnell to television after a four year absence. I have been a fan of Rosie since her stand up comedy days, but it was really nice to see her return to the format that made her famous. All the drama surrounding The View this summer aside, it was very entertaining show and the ladies seemed to be able to work well together. The next few days as they get comfortable with each other will prove if they can get along together or not, but so far, great start. It was a little strange watching Rosie try to deal with sharing the spotlight with co-hosts, but everyone got their face time. Here’s a clip from the show borrowed from TMZ. (Just follow the link)

Next up Katie Couric and the CBS Evening News

Katie started tonight as the anchor person on the CBS Evening News. I have no clips, but I just finished watching the broadcast, and it wasn’t bad either. Katie seemed quite competent and serious; my only complaint was the weird makeup, it bordered on goth. Katie is the first solo female anchor of a network evening news broadcast and she did a stand up job. I can’t believe it took until the year 2006 to have a solo female anchor.
TMZ just posted a clip here you go.

Entertainment Tonight

I can’t quite remember how long that I have been watching ET but I was shocked to here that Mary Hart the perennial host of the show is celebrating her 25th season starting tonight. Her co-hosts may have changed over the years but she is the one constant. I hate to admit it, but I have probably been watching off and on for the last 20 years at least. Mary’s not looking bad for 56 years of age.

My Guilty Pleasure of the summer Big Brother

I have so far resisted the urge to post about Big Brother. Once again I have watched this show from the very beginning, seven years ago. It’s my guilty pleasure. There is nothing socially redeemable about the show but it is just great summer fun with all kinds of eye candy. This year was the “all star” version. If you’re not familiar with the premise of the show it’s very simple. They start with twelve house guests and a house equipped with dozens of cameras and microphones. The guests are locked in the house at the beginning of the summer with out any contact from the outside world. Kind of ironic when there on TV and don’t get to watch any. They are filmed 24 7 and can’t get away from the cameras. I compare it to some weird summer camp for adults. All these people have to do is plot and scheme to evict all the other houseguests. The last man/woman standing wins half a million dollars. I don’t want to go into to much detail about what’s been going on this summer cause’ if you don’t watch the show you will probably be bored out of your mind.
For those of you who watch we are down to the final four and its going to be one hell of a final couple of weeks.

I can’t believe how naive the women of the house are being. My favorite remaining house guest is Janelle; I’m a sucker for attractive blonde women. I can’t believe that she has fallen for Will’s line of crap. I hope that this is a masterful ploy on her part to win the game.

I haven’t watched tonight’s episode and I pray that Erika and Janelle start talking and team up against chill town. I’m not really a fan of Erika but overall she has played a fair game. Except for her back stabbing of Danielle. I feel really bad for the way Mike has been playing on Erika’s emotions (hence no picture). Erika is obviously a romantic and will be crushed when she finds out that Mike has been playing on her emotions to win money. That leaves Will, the evil doctor. I love to hate him and unfortunately I think that he may just walk away with the money again. He has played everyone against each other in the house yet no one seems to think he’s a threat. If that’s not masterful playing what is.

I still hope Janelle wins it all.

Monkey Love

This one is for my friend Sally. She’s a great photographer and has taken some amazing pictures. A lot of her best pics are of animals. Unfortunately Sally must give off some pheromone or something that puts wild animals in the mood. I’m trying to get more examples of this strange occurrence, but here is the most recent from a trip she took earlier in the summer. Nothing like good old fashioned monkey love. Thanks for the picture Sally.

Don't forget turn off the high beams

I want me a pair of these for Christmas.

At least I'll be able to see what I'm tripping over.

I find lately that I have started to become more political and feel the need to fight back when government or groups try to take my rights away. One of the most vocal groups out there trying to deny people their basic human rights is the American group called Focus on the Family. So when I stumbled across this site that details ways that you can get free material from Focus on the Family I had to share it. The idea is you order your free stuff, up to $100 and you help spend the millions of dollars that they have amassed. It looks completely legal, but I’m no lawyer so if you’re an adult make up your own mind.

Slightly off topic and you will see why I say slightly.
Remember the facts of life? They just released the first two seasons of the show on DVD. I was very excited because it’s show I loved to watch growing up. So I googled the show to see what came up. I was more than a little surprised to find out what Lisa Whelchel had been up to the last few years.

Seems that a few years back (probably when acting jobs dried up) Lisa was born again. Now she is a mouthpiece for Focus on the Family, having written numerous books on the family and “proper” child rearing. I won’t go in to details on her many creative punishment techniques but shocking is putting it mildly. I think I was disappointed because my favorite character on the Facts of Life was always Blair the character she played, and then to find out she’s a right wing fanatic.

Kiss and Ride

This picture is all over the net right now.
Soon to hit the tabloid racks near you.
I don't see a problem.
Don’t all guys say good bye like this?

Rosie O'Donnell on the View

Let the countdown begin.
Only 4 days until Rosie sits down with the lady’s of the view. I am really looking forward to the show.
I think that Rosie’s sense of humor and political views are going to fit quite well with the other personalities.
I will admit that I have watched the show a fair amount over the years, but I’m not fanatical about it.
That’s about to change.
I have already got the PVR set up so I don’t miss a minute.
There’s a cute little promo video at the Official View homepage if your interested.

Charlie's Angels

If you missed the Emmys on Sunday night, and looking at the ratings you probably did. I really enjoyed Conan O'Brien's hosting, he was funny and kept things moving. A highlight of the night was touching tribute to Aaron Spelling.
Sad that his wife and son sat on one side of the theater and his daughter and her husband sat on the other.
The part of the tribute that I loved the most occurred when the original Charlie’s Angels came out together. I don’t think these three women have made a public appearance together since the show went off the air. It was nice that they could put there problems with each other aside and pay their respects to the man who launched their careers. They aren’t looking to bad for their age, but there have been lots of trips to the doctor’s office over the years.
Take a glance at the video and place your vote for most plastic surgery, it’s a close call.
